On my winter trip to the Colorado Plateau in 2019, I encountered a heavy snowstorm, which after a few days of melting, left pools in the washes. Every morning, I’d venture out to these washes in search of ice. This was one of my favorite pools I found, with very intricate ice patterns, reflecting the light of the canyon walls from above.
