One of my favorite qualities of light is twilight. On a clear morning in the desert, I love watching the earth shadow slowly move across the sky, creating a band of color in the sky. With a minute exposure on transparency film, the soft color that the sky produces is noticeable in the landscape, with hues of blue and magenta appearing in some of the lighter rock. Standing atop this hill in the badlands surrounding this butte, watching the day slowly awaken is one of the many joys of my life.
