This stream of salty water must have been from the underground river that runs through Death Valley, only appearing on very wet years. I spent several evenings photographing this location, wishing for clouds, but in the end, I chose an image exposed at twilight, where the purple glow of the earth shadow reflected its color onto the valley floor below.
