I’ve always wanted to expose a sheet of film of sand ripping off the top of a dune, and finally made it happen on my early 2018 trip to White Sands National Monument in New Mexico. The wind was gusting between 30 and 40 mph so I had to maintain a relatively fast exposure and it was a lesson in patience to try and get an exposure off. After several missed opportunities, I had only one exposure to get the shot and took a chance during a lull between the big gusts. The results were exactly as I had hoped.
