This was one of the more bizarre sunsets I’ve photographed in the desert southwest. There seemed to be absolutely no chance of color in the sky on this particular evening and just as I was about to pack up the camera, a streak of intense purple light shot into the sky. The light only lasted a matter of seconds, just enough time to get this single exposure off.
