Sometimes, while exploring the Colorado Plateau, the sheer oddity of the landscape smacks you in the face. Standing atop the crest of a petrified sand dune, looking down onto this landscape, I was struck with that same feeling. If someone had approached me from behind and whispered in my ear, “You’re on another planet,” I might have actually believed them.
