Serenity on the Gerlache Strait
Serenity on the Gerlache Strait
One evening, I was on the top deck of our ship as we were heading through the Gerlache Strait, the snow storm began to clear and through the wisps of clouds, I could see a pale blue evening sky. The waters were dead calm, and the mountains lining the strait were reflecting beautifully. I waited patiently in the brisk Antarctic air, snapping a few shots of occasional passing icebergs. In the distance, I saw a crabeater seal lounging on an iceberg, with a small blue pool next to him. As he floated by he was startled by the passing ship and turned to look, which is exactly when I took this photograph.
