Sea Ice in Neko Harbor
Sea Ice in Neko Harbor
The weather in Antarctica can change in an instant. We had landed at a very popular landing in Neko Harbor in Andvord Bay, and the weather was stunning. The most picturesque bluebird day with bright white puffy clouds, and temperatures in the mid 30’s. Within two hours, a storm system had come rolling in, pushing in sea ice from the Gerlach Strait. Gloomy afternoons such as this are my favorite time to be photographing while down on the Antarctic Peninsula. The tones and color that can be photographed are completely unusual to anywhere else I’ve photographed and it’s what keeps driving me back down to Antarctica.
